About
JRM Communications isn’t just a business to me—it’s the culmination of more than 20 years of experience as a writer, editor, and communications strategist.
My career has spanned nonprofit, professional services, and global technology organizations, including the education nonprofit PENCIL, the Weizmann Institute of Science’s fundraising arm, the law firm Latham & Watkins, the management consulting firm Guidehouse, and Amazon Ads. Across these roles, I’ve gained expertise in different areas of communications and have partnered with teams operating in complex, high-stakes environments—each with distinct goals, cultures, and ways of working.
Drawing on my experiences, I support organizations as the founder of JRM Communications, helping them develop thoughtful, effective communications that are tailored to their priorities and audiences.
Outside of work, I’m an avid mystery reader, a devoted musical theater fan, and a foodie and wine lover who firmly believes reds are best enjoyed slightly chilled. I live in Northern Virginia with my husband, who I co-wrote a book with, our six-year-old son, who runs the household, and our two sister rescue cats.
Process
1. Inquiry
Interested in working together? Get in touch via email or submit an inquiry form with a brief description of your project.
2. Discovery Call
We’ll schedule a complimentary 15-minute discovery call to discuss your needs, timeline, and preferred working style.
3. Proposal and Paperwork
Following our call, I’ll share a detailed project overview outlining scope, deliverables, timing, and fees. If everything looks right, I’ll send over a contract—or, if preferred, I’m happy to review a draft provided by your HR or Legal team.
4. Kick-off Meeting
Our work officially begins with a 30-45-minute kickoff call, where we’ll confirm goals, expectations, and requirements for the engagement.
5. The Work
From there, I get to work. Depending on your needs, engagements may be hourly, project-based, on retainer, or by word. We can schedule additional check-ins as needed throughout the engagement.
I use AI thoughtfully and selectively, as a tool rather than a shortcut. When it adds value, I integrate it to streamline workflows, support research, and spark ideas, without ever inputting confidential client information.
AI is never a substitute for the human judgment, voice, and strategy I bring to every engagement. Knowing when AI helps, and when it doesn’t, is a key differentiator of my work.
